Middough Inc. - 'TOP WORKPLACES' Award Winner!Position and ResponsibilitiesAs a Chemical Process Engineer with Middough, you will collect and prepare data and information and perform detailed engineering calculations. The Process Engineer will also perform engineering design and analysis on complex or unique problems and coach/develop less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters. The Process Engineer will have technical and professional growth annually by participating in technical seminars and courses.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Process design of unit operations and preparation of process engineering deliverables such as process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, P&ID's, specifications for equipment and instrumentation systems.
- Collect and prepare data and information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal engineering and technical reports.
- Develop technical specifications & data sheets, performs technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.
- Leadership in field work by checking installations and problem-solving activities.
- Work with Process Engineering Manager in estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking drawings.
- Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Education, Experience and SkillsThe successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
- EIT/FE preferred with intent for PE license with further industry experience.
- 5+ years of experience performing engineering analysis and design functions is preferred.
- Process flow drawing (PFD) development experience preferred.
- Experience with design specifications for process equipment (such as vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters, compressors).
- Ability to perform heat exchanger design calculation.
- Experience with process steady state modeling (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to multi-task, be highly organized, and excellent attention to detail skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
